PhD Position in Algorithmic Cheminformatics
A PhD position starting 1 September 2021 is available at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) for research on an exciting project in algorithmic aspects of cheminformatics supported by the Danish Research Council: "Algorithmic Cheminformatics Meets Causality Analysis". We are seeking an excellent and highly motivated individual with an MSc degree in computer science or a related subject. The ideal candidate has familiarity with one or more of the following areas: algorithmics, concurrency theory, graph transformation, algorithm engineering, systems chemistry, or systems biology. Proven competences in programming and ease with formal thinking are a necessity.
The goal of the PhD project will be to combine state-of-the art approaches from concurrency theory (project co-host Harvard Medical School) and graph transformation (SDU) in order to develop ground-breaking computational methods applicable to the analysis of large networks of chemical reactions.
The Algorithmic Cheminformatics group at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a dynamic research environment, comprising two full professors, an assistant professor, three postdocs, and several students. The project is a joint effort with Harvard Medical School (Department of Systems Biology), who will host the PhD student for extended visits.
Deadline: 29 June 2021.
