The Social Neuroscience Lab of the Max Planck Society (Prof. Dr. Tania Singer,
www.taniasinger.de), located in the heart of Berlin, is inviting applications for a
PhD Student (f/m/x) or Postdoc (f/m/x) in Psychology and/or Social Neuroscience
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of research in the field of a new project, the Edu:Social project (
www.edusocial-project.de/en), focusing on strengthening resilience, social skills, and mental health in school and educational settings through several weeks of online mental training using mindfulness and especially contemplative dyadic partner-based practices. We aim to assess the effects of these interventions on outcome measures as varied as psychological laboratory tasks, app-based ecological momentary assessment and questionnaires, biopsychological markers as well as more system-related measures (e.g., burn out rates, social network analyses, team- or classroom wellbeing and climate, system-level change markers etc.).
Your profile
The successful candidate has an expertise and/or interest in biological, developmental, social psychology, and/or social neuroscience, and in contemplative studies (e.g., mindfulness and compassion interventions), as well as in translational field research. You have experience in the implementation of psychological experiments and development of new paradigms as well as in the use of modern technologies (mobile phone and app applications, etc.) for the collection of physiological and psychological data in everyday life and real-life settings (e.g., classroom). You also bring along in-depth excellent knowledge of modern statistical analysis methods (e.g., time series analysis, structural equation models, and use of software packages with a preference to R). You are proficient with the analysis of longitudinal data using linear mixed models and latent growth / latent change models and have experience with structural equation models in the lavaan framework. Due to data assessment and participant interactions a high command of the German language is required.

Position details
The
PhD position is full time, based on the salary group (65%) E 13 TVöD, and for a duration of three years with a possible extension. The Postdoc position is first limited to two years with a possible extension to three years, full time and based on the salary group (100%) E 13 TVöD.
