PhD Students (F/M/D) in Tumor Biology
The Mildred Scheel Early Career Center Würzburg
(
https://www.med.uni-wuerzburg.de/msnz/the-msnz/) and the Department of Biochemistry
and Molecular Biology (
https://www.biozentrum.uni-wuerzburg.de/molbio/startseite/) are
looking for enthusiastic young scientists (f/m/d) with a background in Life Sciences who
are interested in pursuing PhD projects in one of the following groups:
Dimitrios Papadopoulos studies the function and regulation of oncogenic ribonucleoprotein
particles in solid childhood tumors. The project aims to develop new therapeutic strategies
that target key RNA-binding proteins controlling tumor homeostasis.
Gabriele Büchel works on improving therapies for neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer. The
project analyses the mechanisms of Aurora-A signaling and inhibition.
The projects will be localized in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology,
which is part of the Biocenter of the University Würzburg. The Biocenter has a vibrant
research environment with multiple groups working on central questions of cell and
molecular biology. We are also part of the Comprehensive Cancer Mainfranken.
We offer:
- a highly interactive work environment, with research groups working on basic
mechanisms of transcription, RNA biogenesis and protein ubiquitylation as well as on
advanced genetic tumor models and therapeutic strategies for multiple tumors
- a full-time appointment, competitive salary, fixed-term for an initial period of three years,
extension possible
- a PhD program as part of the enrolment in the Graduate School of Life Sciences, with
hands-on supervision, intellectual support
Apply if you have:
- M.Sc. or an equivalent qualification in Biology, Biochemistry or a related field
- Previous experience in molecular biology or in protein biochemistry
- Strong interest in tumor biology
- The working language is English, knowledge of the German language is not required
To apply, please submit your CV with references and a one-page letter of motivation as
single pdf file via email to
BZ-applications@msnz-wuerzburg.de. Prior publications or
